Equipment and Rolls

Generally, as new patches are released in PvE, you can choose to go for the best crafted armor set, the next best set which is obtained as a drop from dungeons, or the third best set which is worth using to start with, but not worth enchanting past +9. You should always be focused on upgrading your weapon first, followed by gloves, then top, and boots last. Always prioritize rerolling gear before going past +9 because you get much more out of gear rolls than enchant levels, and it's cheaper than masterwork or awakened enchanting.
  • For jewelry, the standard and recommended set up for any DPS class is an Edgetime necklace, Edgetock ring, Edgetock earring, Forcetock ring, and forcetock Earring. This mix gets you the higher set effects from 2, and 3 of each of the jewelry sets.
  • Another jewelry option for more crit factor is Edgetick ring, Edgetock ring, Edgetime necklace, Deathwise cascade, and Deathwise hoop.
  • A good jewelry set up for tanking would be Edgetick, Edgetock earring, Iretime necklace, Iretock ring, and Iretick ring.
  • You should compare where you can get the highest amount of stats from each equipment slot. For example, Pumped III etchings give 10 power compared to 18 crit rate of Keen III etchings, but the highest tier of innerwear will give either 16 crit rate or 8 power, so innerwear has a better ratio of crit to power.
Etchings are temporary enchants for gear crafted with the etching skill. However, permanent etchings can be crafted on crits. At the very least you should always use tier one etchings on your top, and weapon because they're very cheap. Grounded is definitely the best option for armor, and footwear due to berserkers having the lowest base endurance in game. Pumped offers a good ratio of power to crit rate, but it can be difficult building enough crit factor without using keen etchings. Energetic etchings can be good for tanking.

Gear Rolls and Tips

Weapon

Note that you can roll a line twice if it's in the base and in the enchant lines, but you can't roll two of the same roll in the enchant lines only. Crit factor is a good base roll if you can't build as much crit factor on other pieces of gear such as innerwear and high tier keen etchings.

  • You take 8.7% less damage from the monster with highest aggro to you
  • Reflects 7.2% of damage to the attacker.
  • 30% chance to regenerate HP when combat starts.

Gauntlets

There are offense and defense gloves available to use in current gear, and for tanking, the defense ones are much better for holding aggro. PvP gauntlets have a 15% received crit reduction line instead of the 9 crit rate on offense PvE gauntlets which can actually be useful for the harder dungeons, but 9 crit factor is quite a bit.

  • Increases your crit rate by 9.
  • Your attacks draw 7.5% more aggro (Defense only).
  • Increases power by 5 (Offense only).
  • Attack speed increases by 2.25%.
  • Increases endurance by 4.
  • Restores X% of your MP every 5 seconds.
  • Immediately restores X% HP when attacking.

Boots

PvP boots are a good choice as they don't sacrifice as much for PvE as other PvP gears do. Generally a 1% mp regen line vs 10 reduced pvp damage.

Rolls:
  • Movement speed increases by 6%.
  • Increases endurance by 4.
  • Decreases duration of slowing effects by 24%.
  • Restores 1% of your MP every 5 seconds.
  • Restores X% of your HP every 5 seconds.
  • Increases balance factor by 10.
  • Increases balance and chance to resist stun while under boss's feet by X%.

Brooch

Brooches offer skills on a 3 or 6 minute cooldown which you can drag onto your action bar. You can choose between the quickcarve or the empowered brooch: both are good options, but a berserker can't make use of the attack speed from quickcarve nearly as much as other classes, but it will give you more guaranteed crit damage when you need it for shield phases, but on average an empowered will likely put out more damage with the skill. For tanking, a grounding brooch rolled for 4.5% and 3% aggro is a good option.

  • Simple versions of brooches are dropped in Bathysmal Rise, Ravenous Gorge, and the alliance vaults which are:
    • Simple Empowered Brooch - 2 base power; Active effect: increases power by 25 for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown.
    • Simple Quickcarve Brooch - 4 base crit; Active effect: increases crit rate by 30 and attack speed by 7% for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown.
    • Simple Threatening Brooch - 6% base aggro; Active effect: increases endurance by 20 for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown.
    • Simple Cleansing Brooch - 4 base crit; Active effect: self-cleanse on a 6 minute cooldown.
  • Higher tier brooches dropped in Bathysmal Rise Hard Mode and Sky Cruiser Endeavor Normal Mode:
    • Cleansing Brooch - 6 base crit; Active effect: self-cleanse on a 3 minute cooldown.
  • Three higher tier brooches are made with master armour or weapon crafting:
    • Empowered Brooch - 3 base power; Active effect: increases power by 40 for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown.
    • Quickcarve Brooch - 6 base crit; Active effect: increases crit rate by 50 and attack speed by 12% for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown.

Generally, as new patches are released in PvE, you can choose to go for the best crafted armor set or the next best set which is obtained as a drop from dungeons, and there’s also a third best set which is worth using, but not enchanting past +9. You should always be focused on upgrading your weapon first, followed by gloves, then top, and boots last. Always prioritize rerolling gear before going past +9 because you get much more out of gear rolls than enchant levels, and it's cheaper than masterwork or awakened enchanting.
  • As of the Knockout patch a tanks damage scales much better, so aggro lines on gear are much less important compared to damage.
  • For jewelry Cutter necklace, Corvette ring, Corvette earring, Edgetock ring, and Edgetock earring is standard for any DPS or Tank. However, if you've built enough crit factor you can get a good amount of power by replacing the Edgetock ring and earring with Galleon. I currently switch to Galleon when I have a mystic in the party.
    • Whatever you do when choosing your combination of jewelry do not lose out on the 3 set effect of 4% attack speed.
  • You should compare where you can get the highest amount of stats from each equipment slot. For example, Threatening Niveots versus Pounding Niveots gives 7.65% aggro to 1% damage. This is important for making efficient trades first.
  • Attack speed, attack speed, and more attack speed. The more attack speed; the more attacks you can get in between the boss’s attacks which is more aggro draw. Also, attack speed gives you more mobility with all the lancer skills that move you forward, and lets you apply skill threat mods as often as possible.
  • Roll numbers are based on masterworked gear rolls.
Etchings are temporary enchants for gear crafted with the etching skill. However, permanent etchings can be crafted on crits. At the very minimum you should always use temporary tier one or two etchings on your top, and weapon because they're very cheap, and help a ton. In the case of offense etchings threatening etchings offer far too low aggro compared to how much attack speed, and cool down reduction you can get from energetic etchings. For armor etchings I would use grounded over relentless as of the Fate of Arun patch because higher base HP, and you get more out of endurance with the higher defense of new gears.

The two best sets generally have a rerollable line in the base which affect skills for a specific class.
Skill rolls:
  • Spring Attack damage +15%.
  • Shield Counter damage +17%. (This is more useful when you have lower crit factor gearing up)
  • Challenging Shout cooldown -10%.

Gauntlets

There are offense and defense gloves available to use in current gear, and for tanking, the defense ones are much better for holding aggro, though it's worth picking up the offense gloves if you're of equal gear and skill to the DPS you're running with. If you only have enough gold to enchant one pair offense gauntlets are used during endgame tanking much more often.
Rolls:
  • Attack speed increases by X%.
  • Increases power by X (Offense only).
  • Your attacks draw X% more aggro (Defense only).
  • Increases your crit rate by X.
  • Increases endurance by X.
  • Restores X% of your MP every 5 seconds.

PvP boots are a good choice as they don't sacrifice as much for PvE as other PvP gears do.

Rolls:
  • Movement speed increases by X%.
  • Increases endurance by X.
  • Restores X% of your MP every 5 seconds.
  • Restores X% of your HP every 5 seconds.
  • Decreases duration of slowing effects by X%. - This roll is more useful in PvP, but not by much because of skating.
  • Increases balance factor by X.
  • Increases balance and chance to resist stun while under boss's feet by X%.

Innerwear

The 16 crit factor innerwear is by far the most useful for holding aggro on a lancer, followed by the 8 power which could be more useful with a mystic if you've built enough crit factor or PvP. The mana regen innerwear can be nice to use to save some gold on mana elixirs, restoratives, and divine infusions if you're not up against too high DPS. If you don't have any innerwear, you can use the uncommon innerwear awarded by the Raider's Challenge quest series from Dougal until you can afford one of the superior innerwears. If you have both mana regen innerwear and offensive innerwear, you can switch to mana regen innerwear while you're dead if you won't have enough time to put an infused charm up after you res.

Brooch

Brooches offer skills on a 3 or 6 minute cooldown which you can drag onto your action bar. I prefer the Quickcarve brooches for the attack speed paired with the cooldown reduction of adrenaline rush only. If you can't make use of the attack speed due to ping, I'd use an Empowered brooch. All of the brooches listed here have 2 rerollable stats, but there are lower tiered brooches which you can buy from the Vanguard Initiative Merchant with only one rerollable stat. I would not recommend using the grounding brooches as of the Knockout patch.
  • Simple versions of brooches are dropped in Kelivan's Dreadnaught(Normal Mode), and the alliance vaults which are:
    • Simple Empowered Brooch - 2 base power; Active effect: increases power by 25 for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown.
